Issues

During the renovations of its premises, the Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Québec needed a uniform, smooth floor, adapted to a wide variety of flooring. This major constraint led the Institut to call on Polimix for its Supercap floor leveling service, a powerful concrete-based self-leveling solution specially designed for existing indoor flooring.

Solution

The versatility of Supercap technology allowed to prepare the floor surface made up of concrete, wood, ceramic, linoleum and vinyl tiles. To determine the exact quantity of concrete to pour and respect the client’s specifications, i.e., 1/4'' every 10', the floor was probed using high-precision surveying equipment.

Following the preliminary analysis, it took Polimix professionals five days to carry out the work required on the 15,200 ft2 surface.

Cleaned substrate
Installed mechanical adhesion
Applied prime coat
Installed levels of elevation
Poured liquid screed at 7/8”

Results

Reduced laying time by 35% versus conventional delivery systems
Contractor could lay screed the next day
No preparation necessary when installing flooring
